They’re driven and confident and they’re shooting for the stars. They’re young and have their whole lives ahead of them, yet they already know who they are and what they want to do.

They’re our kids — children of the BJ Adams and Company family — and they are the ideal ambassadors for the exceptional community that helped them become who they are. Highlighted below are five local kids (and some siblings) who are a product of a place with an exceptional education system, a tremendous wealth of recreational and cultural activities, the best and most qualified mentors in any given field, and most importantly, a very involved and nurturing community — including, of course, mom and dad.

Bike City USA

As if this town weren’t bike crazy enough, the USA Pro Cycling Challenge descends upon Aspen/Snowmass for two days of racing, parties, festivals and more on Monday and Tuesday, August 18 and 19. But there’s plenty more going on in the local bike scene these days, so if you’re more experiential than spectator, read on. Kids Get Comfy in the Kitchen

There are kid-friendly versions of just about every recreational and cultural activity in Aspen — now, add kids’ cooking classes to the plethora of local offerings.

It’s sure to be a recipe for culinary fun: Take one noted chef and cookbook author — Helen DeFrance, who runs a kids program at the famed Blackberry Farm, give her access to The Little Nell kitchen, and invite children ages four and up to learn with her the foundations of a lifelong practical skill.
