Welcome, Winter!

This year, we luxuriated in an extended Indian summer and glorious, dry fall that had everyone hiking, biking, and otherwise enjoying Aspen’s warm-season offerings well into November. But luckily for us, visitors who’ve planned a ski vacation, and all those businesses that rely on winter, it started snowing. Thankful for Winter

Context is a funny thing. Sure, Aspen and Snowmass both opened five days earlier than scheduled (after a preview weekend on Ajax in mid-November), and sure, the coverage is pretty darn good for this early in the season. But from the enthusiasm of local skiers, you’d think it was mid-February storm riding out there. Everything is relative, right? And as the excitement of a new ski season wanes, it will be replaced by new terrain openings, holiday and events, and plenty more to look forward to, until things wind down again in April.
