Sky Mountain Park officially debuted to the public in 2011, with two new trails. But this year alone, three more trails have been added, giving bikers and hikers a slew of connecting options on the scrub-brush and gambel-oak-covered, 2,500-acre ridge dividing the Brush Creek and Owl Creek valleys.

Many a local has been known to proclaim, “Outside of [summer/winter], September is my favorite season.” And for good reason. After the bustle of summer (this one more so than any in recent memory), the crowds disappear; the weather usually clears, giving way to warm, sunny Indian summer days and crisp, clear nights; hiking and biking is at its finest with the ideal conditions and changing foliage; and obviously, there’s the fall colors, which turn the entire valley into a magical, multi-colored landscape.
