Reflections on a Season

In case you need to be reminded, closing day for Snowmass and Aspen Mountain is this Sunday, April 20, although Ajax will reopen for the next two weekends. It’s been a stellar season, with consistent, good snow from start to finish and a well above average snowpack that will be a boon for post-season off-piste adventures.

Opening day way back in November seems like ages ago, so it’s fun to go through notes and photos to relive some of winter’s highlights. Here’s a quick look back, in words and photos, at the season of 2013-’14. Continue reading

Winding Down Winter in Style

The last of the spring breakers have left and Aspen/Snowmass is settling into wind-down mode. Or is it? Weather forecasters are predicting a fairly wet April, the snowpack is 127 percent of normal, and the ski areas are looking to close with some of the highest snow depths on record while Aspen Mountain is extending its season.
